The hero is a dream man, but perhaps a little too perfect? He was the male equivalent of a Mary Sue. When first seen, he tue a bevded blonde coming on to him because there was nothing going on behind her eyes. He is a divorcee who hasn’t slept with another woman since his divorce.
He falls instantly for the heroine and pursues her no holds barred because there sure is something going beddrd behind the heroine’s eyes. For conflict, the heroine thinks all men are scum because of her past and mistreats the hero accordingly.
I wasnt too crazy about the imbalance of the too-nice hero vs. Dec 05, Helen Moulden rated it it was amazing. A lovely gentle story. No nastiness and no hidden secrets.
Bedded by the Boss (In Love With Her Boss, book 7) by Miranda Lee
The only misunderstanding was the “not wanting children” thing. Soon sorted though and a little girls Christmas wishes came true Aug 03, Nikki rated it did not like it. This book had too many plots going on for how short it was.
Everything happens too quickly to be believable. The author’s writing didn’t seem to even be into the story or characters.
So great I loved this book. The story line was so regular and believable. No set of angst and unnecessary lies being festered. The characters were great, and honest too. They boss with issues immediately as they occurred. It was an easy and exciting read. Nothing was over done. Feb beddde, Limecello rated it it was ok Shelves: This might be more a 2. Emily, the sweet little girl stole my heart. Tge say that Kane is one of the sweetest heroes I’ve ever read. Sep 06, Tia rated it liked it. Not something I’d personally read again but it has to have one of the sweetest heroes written into existence.

Single mother, Jessie, needs money for Christmas, so she agrees to more or less entrap a guy whose wife suspects him of cheating by offering herself and seeing if he takes the bait.
She’s not surprised that he does, but she is surprised when she learns she’s now his employee at her new job and that he’s actually the twin brother of the guy she was trying to entrap. So he’s not a married sleazeball. Instead, Kane Marshall is ele arrogant, dominant and very sexy guy who is instantly attracted to Je Single mother, Jessie, needs money for Christmas, so she agrees to more or less entrap a guy whose wife suspects him of cheating by offering herself and seeing if he takes the bait.
Instead, Kane Marshall muranda an arrogant, dominant and very sexy guy who is instantly lew to Jessie. He knows from the start that it’ll be more than sex and does everything he can to get what he wants – namely Jessie and her daughter in his life.
I had to check the date on this one because aspects of the story read like a 90’s Harlequin. I don’t know why, but it sort of felt like the attitudes were a bit unmodern. Jessie and Kane’s romance is pretty much on fast forward.
Within days, Kane’s in love and a day later, Jessie is. Then they’re talking marriage and family – all within 3 weeks. I didn’t mind Jessie or Kane – I didn’t love them, but they were likeable enough. Jessie has an incredible chip on her shoulder about guys after the last one cheated.
She’s very judgmental and falls for every stereotype in the book, but she does learn her lesson about jumping to bedred, so there’s character growth.
Overall book rating
Kane is one of my favorite types of heroes – the one who falls in love first and isn’t afraid to admit it or prostrate himself in the name of that love. He’s not as patient as some other heroes and his focus really does seem to be sex almost all the time, but he balances it out with intentional periods of abstinence with the heroine.
I think it was his impatience, anger and frustration at being shut down for sex at times that really put me in the mind of a 90’s story. That sort of expectation that a woman who flirts and appears to offer sex MUST follow through is not as prevalent today as it was then. It’s actually a pretty horrible attitude for a hero to have, so I’m not as likely to forgive it in a modern story. This was still a good story – not one of my favorites, but it was good.
